William D.
Private tutor in Plano, TX
Education
I am a graduate of the University of North Texas, where I studied Spanish and Music with a concentration in classical singing. I've been studying Spanish for over 10 years and had the great fortune to study abroad in Madrid, Spain. Prior to studying Spanish at the University of North Texas I spent many nights after work teaching myself Spanish online and meeting with native speakers whenever the opportunity presented itself to help acquire a natural sense for the language.
Experience
At the present moment I work as a freelance web developer in addition to tutoring Spanish. I have taken advanced Spanish grammar courses, which has helped me adopt a more analytical approach to and develop more effective ways of solving the problems that many students experience in learning Spanish (preterite/imperfect, the subjunctive mode, direct/indirect/reflexive object pronouns). I really enjoy helping others that may feel disappointed by the difficulty of learning a foreign language. It isn't a unique sentiment: learning a foreign language is difficult for EVERYONE, and if I can find ways to make seemingly insurmountable obstacles within the learning process much more manageable and clear to the student, I feel I have succeeded.
